Through activities like Zumba, Dance Party and Individual Challenges, the Club quadrupled participation in physical activity and created a culture of movement. The program, funded through a grant from The Reser Family Foundation, is part of the Club’s core youth development model that includes Healthy Lifestyles, Academic Success and Good Character & Citizenship.
Club staff created a schedule of physical fitness activities that spread throughout the entire Club, not just gyms. They promoted involvement with a Reser Fit Pass. The Pass tracked active minutes and motivated youth to reach nationally recommended levels of 60 minutes of activity per day. Youth who achieved that milestone were recognizing as Club All Stars. Through this effort, the Club succeeded in reaching 132 previously inactive youth! The positive benefits just keep coming, as youth in the Middle School program started their own dance team. The dance team has had several performances at the Club’s Health Fair and at Middle School social nights.
