Art Center Summer Classes 2011

Class time is 3:00 to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday

 

Week 1 – June 20-24   Summer Fun Sewing

Begin the summer by making your very own beach bag and summer outfit.

Class Limit – 10

Requirements – 9yrs and older

Cost - $10

 

Week 2 – June 26 – July 1    Jewelry and Card Making

Make your own ‘designer’ jewelry.  Learn the basics of beading.  Design custom cards for all occasions using advanced card making techniques.

Class Limit – 15

Requirements – Interest in beading and card making.

Cost - $8

 

Week  3 – July 5-8   Free Art Week

This is a short week and many will be on vacation so come in and enjoy a week of a variety of projects..

Class Limit – none

Requirements – none

Cost – Free

 

Week  4 – July 11-15   Adventures in Clay

Enjoy a week of sculpting and learning methods of working with clay.

Class Limit – 15

Requirements – Desire to learn clay techniques

Cost - $5

 

Week  5 – July 18-22   Cooking Around the World

Come and join us as we travel around the world of cooking foods from different countries.  We will finish off the week with an almost authentic English tea party.  Other countries to be announced later.

Class Limit – 20

Requirements – Love to cook and try different foods

Cost - $12

 

Week  6 – July 25-29   Fundamentals of Acrylics

Learn the ‘secrets’ of painting with acrylics.

Class Limit – 20

Requirements – Wear clothes that you won’t care if you get paint on them.

Cost - $5

 

Week  7 – August 1-5   Needle Works

Learn to knit and crochet using basic knit and crochet stitches.  Receive your own needles and yarn to work with.

Class Limit – 10

Requirements – 9yrs and older and a desire to learn to knit and crochet.

Cost - $10

 

Week  8 – August 8-12   Girlie Girl Week

Have fun learning proper skin care and make up application with instruction from a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant.  Play with fingernail polish and make various ‘girlie’ things.

Class Limit – 20

Requirements – 9yrs and older and have parents permission

Cost - $5

 

Week  9 August 15-19   Watercolors and Sketching

The objective this week is to come away with knowledge about painting with watercolors and detailed sketching.  Go home with a matted piece of artwork to hang on our wall.

Class Limit –20

Requirements – Love to draw and paint

Cost - $5

 

Week  10 August 22-26   Island Hopping Cooking Class

We will hop around to the islands of; Ireland, Australia and Japan, cooking foods from each island. Then we will finish off the week in Hawaii with a Hawaiian Luau.

Class Limit – 20

Requirements – Love to cook and explore different foods

Cost - $12

 

Week  11 August 29 – September 2   Scrapbooking

Bring in all the pictures you have taken from your summer adventures and other special times to put in your very own scrapbook.  Learn fun and creative ways to display your photos.  Every child will receive a 12x12 scrapbook and all the supplies needed to finish their scrapbooks.

Class Limit –15

Requirements – Must have pictures to put in books.
