Teens
Clubhouse programs feature friendly, energetic and fun staff trained to work with specific age groups utilizing the Boys & Girls Clubs Youth Development Strategy. The Youth Development Strategy incorporates in all programs and activities four basic "senses" or feelings which, when possessed by young people help them build self-esteem and develop into productive, responsible, caring citizens.
Teens
TEEN PROGRAMS
Keystone Club
Keystone Clubs are nationally chartered leadership and service clubs for high school aged teens focused around:
- academic success
- career preparation
- community service
Throughout the year, participants will be in charge of planning and implementing service projects with the help of the BGCC high school lead advisor.
Torch Club
A leadership program for youth ages 11- 13. Torch provides a unique opportunity in that the members themselves determine community needs and then implement programs to address those needs. Members develop essential character traits; responsibility, respect for self and others, trustworthiness, fairness and caring as they learn leadership skills to prepare for tomorrow.
Power Hour
Power hour is a dedicated hour for kids to do homework. Staff and volunteers work with kids to complete and track homework progress.
Career Launch
Identify career goals and assess career interests, find out sources for job leads, practice essential interviewing skills (including how to handle difficult questions), learn how to complete an error-free resume, and complete an employment application. There will also be opportunities to shadow a wide variety of jobs and careers including opportunities in BGCC's own Club Coffee.
Club Coffee
We have an on site fully running coffee shop that is managed, run, and staffed by our teen members!
Art Mondays
Explore different kinds of art, and express your creativity! Every week there will be a different activity either using new artistic mediums or techniques.
Smart Girls & Passport to Manhood
Girls and guys get the chance to meet separately to discuss real life issues – ask anything and be as honest as you want. The program is designed to encourage healthy attitudes and lifestyles, and responsibility and character that will enable youth to develop to their full potential.
Music Makers and Project DJ
Our music program includes staff led lessons in drums, guitar, bass, keyboard, beat-boxing, singing, recording studio, DJing and much more!
Drama Matters
Improve confidence and have lots of fun with our Drama Matters program. Kids loosen up with drama grames and word games towards putting on their own prodiction.
Athletics
There are also lots of sports and activities going on in our two gyms daily. We also offer sports up to age 14.
