A 509J and Boys & Girls Club of Corvallis
Afterschool Academic Program
To extend the learning that takes place during the school day in afterschool- to ultimately increase student academic performance, test scores and engagement during the school day.
GECKO Club works closely with the district, school teachers and staff to meet the learning and behavioral needs of every child in the program.
GECKO Club activities and learning goals are structured around Common Core State Standards. Some of our activities include the use of technology, building and crafting to problem solve, reading and writing workshop exercises and explorations in music and art. We work hard to provide a wide variety of activities to accommodate the learning styles of each student. We maintain a ratio of 10-12 students per instructor.
In addition to our partnership with 509J, we also partner with a variety of community organizations including OSU/4H STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Linn Benton Community College and more. These partnerships expose students and their families to opportunities within Corvallis they may not otherwise get to enjoy.
*Based on recent data from the school, students who are currently enrolled in the GECKO Club have shown academic improvement over the last few months!
GECKO Club runs from 2:40-6pm Monday through Thursday and 1:40-6pm on Fridays. The office phone number is 541-243-3072.
We follow the 509J School District calendar and are closed when the school is closed.
