Our goal in Athletics is to provide a safe, comprehensive, equitable, and fun sporting environment for all involved. The BGCC Athletics Department has the right to modify, add, or move players or teams at any time to align with our goal that creates quality programs.
We believe that all children should have the opportunity to participate in Boys & Girls programs. A limited number of partial scholarships are available to families who qualify for financial assistance.
K basketball is an introductory camp that is held on Friday evenings. 1st-4th grade: Smaller courts and balls allow children to learn proper fundamentals at an early age. Teams formed by school if possible. Practices are during the week, 1-2 nights per week in the evening. Grades 1-2 are coed, and grades 3-4 have separate divisions for girls & boys. Balance teams are formed based on school attended (no try-outs are necessary – everyone gets placed). Practices are during the week, generally in the early evening. Games are played during the week. This league plays other organizations in the mid-valley, so travel to Albany, Philomath, Monmouth (for example) is necessary. All grades will have a skills clinic/evaluation night for team placement. 5/6th graders are in most cases mixed to form teams in two different skill levels of competition.
