Important Updates
General Information

The Boys & Girls Club offers Fall and Spring seasons of Volleyball teams participate in the Valley League.

Our Spring Developmental League is a non-competitive season where we focus on team bonding, skill development and basic fundamentals. There will be no standings or rankings. The idea of this league is to introduce new players to the sport while enhancing the skills of experienced players. We do not “cut” anyone from our programs. Each division will play in the Valley League, where travel will be required. Each team will play a 10 game schedule, once a week double headers in the Valley League. Teams will practice, depending on the coach’s schedule, at Linus Pauling, Cheldelin and BGCC. Players who played in our Fall season may remain on the same team. New players will be placed on existing teams to create and ensure a well balanced roster. 7th & 8th graders will play on Tuesday, 5th & 6th graders will play on Wednesday and 3rd/4th graders will play on Thursday.

Our Fall competitive season is for 4-8th graders – Fall volleyball has “competitive” divisions for teams in 7th & 8th grade where standings are kept and teams that qualify will participate in an end of season championship tournament. We do not “cut” any player, but all players are encouraged to attend an evaluation session to size for a jersey and to help best determine placement on a team. All players who did not attend an evaluation session and are registered “on time” will be placed on a competitive team, regardless of skill or experience. There is only a developmental season for the 4/5th grade, matches are played, but no standings are kept. All divisions play in the Valley League, which requires travel. Teams are divided into divisions according to grade and if numbers allow, by school. There are typically 2 matches per week and 1-3 practices depending on the coach and needs of each team. Practices and games take place on weeknights and take place at the BGCC, Linus Pauling MS and in some cases Cheldelin MS. Tournament play is optional.
